Superior Tofu uses non-GMO, Grade-A, Canadian soybeans.
VANCOUVER, BC, May 6, 2016 – Staff at Superior Tofu have met the challenge by passing their first unannounced GFSI audit. They have passed audits every year for GMP since 2005 and for HACCP since 2008, but before this year, audits were always scheduled.
“Passing our unannounced audit means we are always maintaining high safety and quality standards and not just ‘cramming for the exam’,” says Rita Cheng, CEO of Superior Tofu.
By passing the audit, Superior Tofu has achieved Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) compliancy by renewing their Safe Quality Foods (SQF level 2).
The GFSI is a business driven initiative for the continuous improvement of food safety management systems to ensure confidence in the delivery of safe food to consumers worldwide. Since the launch of GFSI in 2000, Superior Tofu is the only tofu manufacturer in Canada to have achieved compliance to this international standard of food safety.
Along with meeting all regulatory requirements, Superior Tofu also maintains effective allergen control programs which are regularly reviewed. All their products are made with non-GMO, Grade-A, Canadian soybeans. Selected soy products are Canada Organic certified as well. All products are also BC Kosher.
Superior Tofu is a family run business with four generations of tofu making expertise, and the pride of every employee – whether vegetarian or carnivore – is evident by how much tofu they bring home to serve their families!
